Blackshaw’s 5th Birthday

On Sunday 7th June, we celebrated Blackshaw’s 5th Birthday in style!  Guests included past cast, crew, patrons and associates.  There was cake (totally on brand with an edible Blackshaw logo), bubbly, paper hats, and a speech from Director, Ellie.

We also enjoyed a slide show of past projects, as well as some special live performances.

Get a taste of the metaphorical birthday cake with a peep at the party.

It’s behind you!  If you (like me) think panto is just for the children, and your panto days are indeed, ‘behind you’, you are so wrong.  Panto does require awillingness to abandon an adult outlook, but I saw a fantastic production of Peter Pan at Fairfield Halls this week which had my inner child engrossed right from the moment the curtain lifted.  Check out my review on www.whatspeenseen.co.uk

Christmas is certainly known as a time for children, but really it’s just for the child within, isn’t it?  I know I still get super excited around Christmas time, and advent has been punctuated for me, by the purchase of no less than three Christmas Jumpers.

Kitsch Xmas Poster

The last couple of years have seen rising popularity of the Christmas Jumper – Bridget Jones (early 2000s reference…) thought Mark Darcy was a right berk in his festive knitted creation, but now all the hipsters are wearing one.  There’s something fabulously retro and carefree about hideous knitwear, and whether you’ve battled your way through racks of overpriced vintage pullovers that have a genuine 80s horror vibe, or have lazily nipped into Primarni for their latest Christmas vestment, you can revel in the kitsch style.  Look snazzy, be liberated in your woolen monstrosity, and join us to celebrate all things kitsch (oh god, the tinsel!) on Saturday at our Kitsch Christmas Party in Tooting.  All welcome, only £3 entry – Themed cocktails, Live Music (The Bandits), Comedy (Steve Seller) Santa will be there (SANTA, I KNOW HIM!*), festive edibles, party games (points mean prizes).  Kitsch xmas 2013
