The Blackshaw Arts Hour – Episode 56

For the first show back into 2017 Iasha is joined by Matt and a very new voice to the show, Sinead Burniston, a fellow Holloway graduate and theatre lover.

Matt reviews the Lego Batman film, we hark back to some old conversations from 2016 including a run down of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, how bad Suicide Squad was and Iasha talks musicals and lack of tap with Half a Sixpence.

Next show Matt’s reviewing Fifty Shades Darker, and if there is a show not to miss this year, it’s that one. So much awkward.

The Blackshaw Arts Hour – Episode 53

This week on the show, Iasha is joined by Vikki and Matt, and Strat and Alex are back once again to tackle an art, this week we’re doing sculpture!

Matt reviews Arrival and can hardly contain his excitement for what seems to be a high contender for one of Matt’s picks of the year.

Vikki tells us about a very immersive theatre experience she and Alex participated in last Friday and we also hear a live recording of a Scare Slam story from our Scare Slam at the Horse and Stables last year.

The Blackshaw Arts Hour – Episode 52

This week on the show Iasha, Matt and Ellie are joined by Strat and Alex, doing their very first ‘Art’ on the new segment ‘Strat and Alex Do Art’.

Matt reviews Dr. Strange and maintains his professionalism as he is drawn by our two ‘artists’.Ellie talks to us about something new coming to Cineworld in Wandsworth which is pioneering 4DX cinema experiences and we heard from Owen Collins reciting some of his poetry at a recent Blackshaw new writing night.

The likeness is uncanny.

The Blackshaw Arts Hour turned 50! We had a party with fizz, hats and party poppers.

Iasha is joined by Matt, Ellie, Vikki, Helen, Alex and Andy (with Dave in the the background). Join us for Matts regular film review, a few best bits and a lot of reminiscing.

The Blackshaw Arts Hour – Episode 45

This week on the podcast, Matt brings us his review of Ghostbusters, a re-boot of the 1984 original.

We hear an interview with Stage Manager  and friend of Blackshaw Lizzie Cooper. Lizzie talks to Ellie about how she ended up working in the industry, the shows she’s worked on recently and some of the weird and wonderful props she’s had to source.

Matt and Iasha talk about some of the recent theatre they have seen in London, including two shows at The National (The Plough and the Stars and The Deep Blue Sea) and West End Musical, Matilda. Also, back by popular demand, we play Edinburgh Roulette for the second time on The Blackshaw Arts Hour.

The Blackshaw Arts Hour – Episode 42

This week on The Blackshaw Arts Hour, Iasha is joined by Matt and Vikki in the studio.

Matt review The Nice Guys starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling and we discuss what other movies are out there where the lead characters don’t actually “learn anything”.

We here a piece of new writing by Rosie Marsh called An Unexpected Guest. Starring Angela Ferns and Emily Rae, recording live at The Horse and Stables.

Vikki brings us a live arts thing of the week. We discuss Adam Drivers Ted Talk and the brilliant work he is doing bringing theatre to American Marines in various places around the world.

Corey Hulls explains the different stages of a night out in his essay, “The Nine Stages of Drinking” and we discuss the ‘colourful’ TONY awards from last week and the huge success of musical ‘Hamilton’.

The Blackshaw Arts Hour – Episode 40

This week on the show, Iasha brings you The Blackshaw Arts Hour minus her regular co-hosts.

Matt, Vikki and Nick review the Grand Budapest Hotel and we hear a very funny question from Helen Johnson posed to our cast and crew of Staying Alive at the beginning of the year.

Richard Stratton told us his three top spooky experiences ranging from childhood all the way though to present day, a story that featured in Blackshaw’s Scare Slam last year.

Next up on the show was Beige, a piece of new writing by Dan Weatherer, performed by Richard Malado and Hayley Marie Axe and Directed by Catherine Lord at one of our regular New Writing Nights at the Horse and Stables in Lambeth.

The Blackshaw Arts Hour – Episode 39

This week in on the show, Matt and Ellie join Iasha in the studio to talk all things Wandsworth Arts Fringe, as it opened officially last Friday.

We heard Helen Johnson interview Matt Hopwood who is putting on an immersive audio-visual storytelling show called A Human Love Story in the arches of Putney Bridge. You can go along and see Matt’s show on the 21st and 22nd of May as a part of WAF.

Matt reviewed Captain America: Civil War, after having seen it as part of a triple bill, which we thought was a very good effort!

We heard Ellie and the cast of Black Shuck (which opens this Wednesday the 11th!) talking to Lesley Strachan about the show and why you should come along and see it. Don’t forget to get your tickets here!

Vikki bought us her Arts Thing of the Week, which was a review of Bug, starring James Norton and Kate Fleetwood, which she and Ellie saw at Found111 on Charing Cross Road.

The Blackshaw Arts Hour – Episode 38

This week on the Blackshaw Arts Hour Matt and Vikki are in the studio with Iasha, Matt review Eye in the Sky and then we spoke about how it stood up to London Has Fallen in terms of a drone strike movie. Suffice to say Eye in the Sky won.

The wonderful Lesley Strachan crashed a Black Shuck rehearsal and interviewed Director Ellie and cast members Rachel and Alex.

Vikki did a review/Arts Thing of the Week beginning with The Maids and then talking about the importance of reviving specific plays.

Helen Johnson interviewed Duncan Hands, the writer of Black Shuck, about his writing process and how he developed the idea of the upcoming production.
